Hi, my name is Anna Spaulding and I’m creating this for my one-year-old dachshund, Gizmo. She’s a solid black longhair with a fierce and lively personality.

As of January, she’s been dealing with extreme hair loss and other symptoms like severe itching, licking of her paws and butt, near-constant head/ear shaking, and increased moodiness and agitation. She’s undergone multiple different tests that have all proven to be of no help, and she’s continuing to have more tests such as a skin biopsy of different spots on her body and lower lip, and lots of others.

And of course, all of this is extremely frustrating and devastating for me emotionally and financially. I always like to stay prepared with emergency money in case of something happening with my dogs, but with the constant vet visits and tests, that stash has been drained, and I’m now working with a one-person income that’s proving to be extremely stressful.

I have one other dachshund puppy named Aristos (8-month-old black and blue Merle longhair) that’s set to get spayed next month, so that’s adding even more financial stress and uncertainty. Gizmo and Ari have been best friends since the beginning, and it’s saddening to see the two's relationship struggle due to Gizmo’s constant discomfort and moodiness. We’ve already spent approximately $2,000 in the past three months and anticipate incurring another $4,000 in the near future due to additional tests and visits with a pet dermatologist.
