Aid for Elder Tei's family in Maui
Donation protected
Elder Tei waved his goodbyes to his ohana and his beloved island to serve for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Bentonville, AR mission never speculating that it might be the last time he would set foot in yesterday’s Lahaina teeming with his childhood memories. The elementary school he attended is now reduced to ashes.
Most tragic, he has learned of the loss of relatives and two of his childhood mentors in the fire that swept through the town. His cousins were among those rescued from the ocean where they took refuge from the flames and suffocating smoke.
My son, Elder Brandt, is currently Elder Tei’s companion. We are devastated upon hearing this and want to help ease his family’s pain any way possible. Funds will be needed for supplies for their immediate needs, funeral expenses, and rebuilding.
As of now, these are the names I have been given of Elder Tei’s relatives who are in need.
The Tone family (Holly Tone) lost four family members (Her parents Faaso and Malui Tone, her sister Salote Takafua, and her 7-year-old nephew Tony Takafua) to the fires in Lahaina. Their home was also lost. Holly's parents helped raise Elder Tei.
The Hafoka family (Siale & Matafolau Hafoka, Elder Tei's grandparents) lost their home. Luckily, they got out in time, but the only possessions they had time to grab were two changes of clothing. Siale is being cared for in a medical facility. His wife is staying in a hotel not knowing what her next step is going to be.
The Pousima family (Naioka Pousima, her husband, their son, and his grandparents) lost their home and all their belongings in the fire. (Cousin to Elder Tei)
Lana Loketi also lost her home and all possessions. (Cousin to Elder Tei)
Please help Elder Tei feel loved and supported. Your help is very much appreciated. All raised will be sent directly to Elder Tei’s family, specifically the Tone, Hafoka, Pousima, and Loketi families.
If you are unable to donate, you can still help by sharing this link. Please keep these families and Elder Tei in your thoughts and prayers.
Our hearts are with all who have been affected. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
