My name is Dominika Ptashnyuk. I am 21 years old from Los Angeles, California. Those who know me know that I am not someone who ever asks for help or donations, but my family has been struck by a tragedy that has completely changed our lives.

My parents have been truck drivers together for the past five years. They worked side by side every day not just as coworkers, but as partners in life. They truly were each other’s other half.

On February 18, 2026, our lives changed forever. At 11:30 PM, I received a phone call from a police officer and a paramedic at the scene informing me that my parents had been involved in a devastating truck accident in New Mexico. My father, who was 54 years old, tragically passed away at the scene.

My dad was not only the best father to me and my sister, but also my best friend and the most loving husband to my mom. Losing him has left an unimaginable hole in our family.

By a miracle, my mom survived the crash. However, she suffered physical injuries and will not be able to work for a period of time while she recovers physically and mentally.

During the accident, our family dog was thrown from the vehicle and is currently missing. We believe she ran away out of fear after the crash. We are actively searching and holding onto hope of finding her, as she is one of the few living pieces of my dad that we still have with us.

My father was the sole provider for our household, and we are now facing overwhelming emotional and financial hardship. The donations raised will go toward medical expenses, memorial costs, and helping us keep a roof over our heads during this incredibly difficult time.
