Since late 2017, the northern province of Cabo Delgado has been attacked by insurgents. These attacks have caused many deaths, displacement of families and missing persons. Those remaining in Cabo Delgado amidst conflict depend on humanitarian aid. Refugees have escaped attacks by making their way by boat to Pemba, where they are lodged in make shift camps.
The American International School of Mozambique (AISM) alumni association and the AISM parent teacher association have partnered with Plataforma Makobo, a grassroots organization to provide nutritional assistance to families in Pemba.
This campaign aims to raise money to buy foods and food condiments such as rice, beans, sugar, corn flour, oil, and salt for refugees in Pemba.
The funds will be withdrawn to Jessica's personal account (an AISM Alumni). Shortly after, Jessica will wire transfer the funds to Miriam, AISM's Communications and Admissions officer. Collectively they will purchase the foods to be sent to the Makobo warehouse. Plataforma Makobo will be distributing the foods to displaced families in Pemba.
