This Go Fund Me project seeks to assist Devis Herrera Williams and his family an to aid me in my ongoing effort to support them.

Deyvis is a 35 year old man suffering terribly from spondylitis ankylosing, a severe type of arthritis and which causes extreme curvature and inflammation of the spine. There is no cure,

Deyvis contracted the disease when he was 14 and it has gotten steadily worse. He is totally bedridden and is very susceptible to various types of infections, therefore he must be hospitalized very often.

His family is very low income and Deyvis’ condition is very tough to care for. He must be moved and bathed frequently, and it has restricted his mom’s employment opportunities as she has had to work very nearby to care for him. His sister Dana has helped as much as she can, but she has been in school to try to get a better job to help the family

I met Devis in 2011 during a trip taking students to Guatemala to do humanitarian aid work. I have sought with little success to get assistance for Deyvis from the Guateman Health Service and various non-profits. Since 2011, I have spent thousands every year paying for Deyvis’ medicines, hospitalization, and other expenses, I am committed to continuing this; it is a labor of love. Still, as a retired teacher my income is limited, and I would appreciate help in this ongoing endeavor. Thanks for your support!
