I have been looking for work since March 2025.
I was an accessibility specialist laid off as part of a reduction in force (others were laid off at the same time). My unemployment insurance has now run out.
So even though I am part of debt reduction programs, etc - I cannot afford to make payments on those programs. I have a couple of gigs coming up from January-March, but these gigs are calculated to only bring in 200 or so dollars at a time.
Calculating my monthly debt payments is about $800 a month. Any more than that goes towards groceries, dentist appointments (I currently have a filling right by a nerve that needs to be checked), and more as I continue to search for full-time or part-time work.
The initial goal is small, because I know things are tight for everyone right now in the US.

What's accessibility?
I specialized in digital accessibility conformance and integration as per the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, the ADA, Section 508, the Cooper Hewitt guidelines for descriptive text, and more. So things like:
- resizing text without sites losing functionality;
- alt-text/descriptive text for art;
- keyboard navigation of websites;
- screen reader compatibility, such as through NVDA or VoiceOver;
- in short, improved usability for everyone (as accessibility is often part of "designing for distraction" and assuming multitasking, etc)
