Aid for David Gleason's Family After His Passing
Donation protected
David Gleason, Kent, WA, passed away on February 27th at the age of 63. He was a fighter his entire life, including fighting for his life starting at age 17 when he had his first open-heart surgery. He developed an infection earlier this month, and after 9 days in the hospital, the surgeon determined a third open-heart surgery would be required, which he did not survive. He was adored by his wife, son, and grandson.
David was the chief financial officer for a Boeing supplier, where he built a strong technology infrastructure for the team and was a mentor / coach to to those that worked with him. The business was hit hard during COVID and the ongoing Boeing work slowdown with safety and workforce challenges. He and officers of the company sacrificed significant compensation to keep the 40-person firm afloat, but this created financial hardship for his family and the future.
From a sister’s perspective: 14 months apart, David was a close companion during my early years. He was creative, caring, constantly envisioning a future full of good things for those he loved - the consummate dreamer. He worked to take care of others while sacrificing himself as evidenced time and time again. When we lost our parents, he and I together took the night shift, caring for them while reminiscing and catching up on life. Wednesday night, I stayed beside him at the hospital talking, napping, sharing the “night shift” again. We hoped it would not be the last.
The purpose of this fund is to support medical and funeral expenses and provide a critical flow of short-term income for his wife to support day-to-day expenses. Karen McKinney will administer the fund to ensure the most critical needs are met.
Life without the forever “rose-colored glasses” man will not be the same for those who loved him.
