I am reaching out to share a deeply personal story about my dad, a dedicated truck driver who has spent his life on the road. On April 21, we received the most terrifying call. My dad was on his way to New Jersey to deliver a load but had notified his dispatcher that he would be staying overnight at a truck stop in Pennsylvania on April 17. When Monday came and he hadn’t made it to his destination, his dispatcher grew concerned and reached out to us after losing contact with him.
Knowing that my dad has diabetes, we quickly decided to call the police for a welfare check. Unfortunately, they were busy, so we reached out to a nearby Denny's for help. The manager, showing incredible kindness, went to check on him. After knocking on his truck and receiving no response, she called the police and waited for them to arrive. What they found was heartbreaking—my dad had suffered a stroke on Thursday night and was left alone in his truck for four days. He was barely breathing and paralyzed on the left side of his body.
He is currently in the ICU and, while stable for now, the doctors have informed us that he will need to stay in Pennsylvania for about 3 to 4 weeks for treatment. My mom flew out with my brother to be by his side, but my dad has always been the sole provider for our family. We are now faced with the overwhelming burden of medical bills and expenses during this challenging time.
We humbly ask for your support in any way you can. Your contributions will help ease the financial strain as we navigate this difficult journey. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
