Cooper was born 3 weeks early due to an extremely high heart rate (SVT) that had the doctors very concerned. As soon as he was born the doctors tried giving him medicine to slow down his heart rate but it wasn’t working. A few hours after being born, Cooper was taken by ambulance to a children’s hospital that could better accommodate him. Once there he was given a new medicine that worked and stopped his SVT events. Though the medicine worked, we were then dealing with Cooper having a very low heart rate and he started having bradycardia events. He ended up having to stay in the NICU for 8 days because of these events. Once he was able to pull himself out, they let us go home. Once home, Cooper was tired 24/7 there was barely any wake windows which had us concerned. We questioned doctors and they told us Cooper was prescribed too much and we needed to cut back on the dosage, so we did. He was still extremely tired all the time. A week later at his pediatric appt his temperature was very low and he was sent back to the NICU to be under the warmer for a few hours. He ended up having RSV and had to stay for 3 more days. While there, we questioned the medicine again and NICU doctors noticed his sleepiness as well. They agreed to listen to us and take him off one of the medications. It worked and we were sent home. Cooper is still on mediation for the SVT and will be for the foreseeable future. He also has many cardiologist appts. As you can imagine the NICU stay, meds and appts are adding up. I do not expect for anyone to donate to this but if you can and are willing, we appreciate you. Even just a share would be helpful. Thank you all so much! Love, Cooper
