Aid for Colombian Family's Asylum Dream
Donation protected
Dear friends
Thank you to all who have helped, again I ask for your help.
I'm trying to help a Columbian family I met in Mexico City this past winter. They are a Columbian family fleeing violence and seeking safety and a better future in the United States. Currently, they are stuck in southern Mexico, facing numerous challenges and hardships as they try to make their way north. Their journey has brought them to a critical point where they need to reach San Miguel Allende, where I have friends that can help them with safe housing, and work while they wait for their CPB-1 application to be processed. The journey from southern Mexico to San Miguel Allende is incredibly difficult, dangerous and expensive for migrants.
Please chip in a little to help them make this next important step to safety. The danger to an 11 year old female is horrific.
BTW this is really Rick Bayer.

Below is my original post:
For several months I have been helping a beautiful Colombian family that I met in Mexico City this winter.
They were forced to flee Colombia when they became victims of severe corruption and gang violence visited upon them.
Mother, father and 10-year-old daughter traveled by foot, including walking through the jungle of the Darien Gap. It took them months to reach Mexico City where we met.
They wish to seek asylum in the United States. They are honest hard-working beautiful people, it continues to be a long journey fraught with danger.
He works when he can find work, but it's not enough to keep them alive. The best we have been able to do is support them in helping them keep a roof over their head, food to eat, legal advise, and as safe as possible,
We communicate on a daily basis, the little girl shares her artwork with us, and we give moral support with frequent video calls.
They want to do the proper procedure, which is to get what's called the CBP-1 application, where they can legally travel to the US border and have an appointment with immigration.
This is the legal process however it can take several months as there are thousands of applications a day and people are chosen on a lottery basis.
I have spent thousands of dollars and need support from a wider community. I am now reaching out for help.
Will you help by donating what you can, never have I been so clear on how privileged I am, or witnessed the human resilience this family demonstrates.
$25 provides food and shelter for a day, and $100 provides rent for a week. I'm not used to asking for help but I really need it in order to see this through.
Photo provided is not of the family, as it could be dangerous for them to have their photos published.
Thank you.
