Many know my parents, Bill and Cindy Laughlin.
Unfortunately, my dad has had a serious medical emergency. After a small outpatient surgery 2 weeks ago, he developed an infection which resulted in septic shock. He has been fighting for his life in the ICU since Friday evening.
My parents have been married for 48 years, and my mom has been by his side since he was admitted. She is the epitome of loyal, unconditional love. She has been staying so strong for my dad.
Unfortunately, he has a lot of work he still does (yes, at almost 73 years old) to keep the bills paid. They have been self-employed my whole life, and if they don’t work, they don’t get paid.
A lot of people have texted my mom and myself and asked how they can help. We are so appreciative. I’m hoping my mom could get a bit of relief from worrying about their work, so she doesn’t feel as overwhelmed with it while my dad is in the ICU.
He was unconscious and intubated for 3 days, and finally last night (Dec 2), after we spent the day talking to him, rubbing his head, holding his hands, and playing Beatles music for him, he woke up and has been able to make small communication with us and the doctors.
We love him so much and he has been the best father and grandfather anyone could ever ask for. He always goes out of his way to do things for others. Anytime we need a ride or help, he is there.
We don’t know what will happen at this point, I will be sure to update when things change.
