Aid for Christopher's Long Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Hello I am Deborah and I'm fundraising for financial assistance to help cover the costs of my son Christopher's medical costs and care. Christopher is recent graduate of Granville Central High School. an excellent student at WAKE TECH in NC., a devout attendee at Southside Church of Christ in NC., a lover of video games and animals, helpful, funny, caring, respectable, and God fearing. Unfortunately, the day after his 19th birthday, he suffered 3rd degree burns over 72% of his body as the result of an unknown explosion. His injuries left him with an inability to speak as a result of being on a ventilator, unable to walk and coordinate basic motor skills, and so much more. He is facing 13 surgeries, months of physical, occupational, respiratory therapy, and is expected to be hospitalized for 4-6 months.
This unexpected disater has spun a web of events that we were unprepared for. To begin, outside of his horrific injuries, the hospital is approximately 75 minutes from our home. Furthermore, parking is $10 per day and gas for my truck is averaging $3.30 per gallon. Plus, housing at the nearby SECU House is almost $400 per week and meals are averaging $10 per meal.
I reduse to let him go through this alone. I spend 7 days a week with him at the hospital standing by his side as a caregiver, spokesperson, advocate, facilitator, best friend, confidante, and trying to be the best mom and dad for him. As a result, I am unable to work thus making it impossible to make the expected payments to our creditors for our home, vehicle, and bills. In addition, he is in need of medically approved clothing, medical equipment, and supplies.
While Christopher has a long road to recovery ahead of him, he stays pushing forward against the odds. His medical team is encouraged by his winning spirit and is amazed by his recovery daily. I am asking all of you to support his recovery by donating funds to assist with the aforementioned items. Any and all donations are graciously appreciated.
