As some of you may already know, my momma, Charlotte Summerlin, had been dealing with a lot of health issues for the past year and a half, with no real definitive answer as to what was wrong. However, about a week and a half ago, while in the hospital, the doctors discovered a partially collapsed lung and multiple tumors on her lungs, diagnosing her with stage 3 lung cancer. After that hospital stay, she was sent home. Things were looking hopeful, and she was to eventually begin chemo and radiation. Unexpectedly, on Thursday 04/24/2025, she was taken back to the hospital due to difficulties with her breathing. My mother ended up coding, and after every attempt possible, my momma passed.
My mother was an amazing person, friend, and grandmother, and I don't know if I'll ever be able to put into words how much she is loved and will be missed. She loved all of her children, and her grandbabies were her everything.
This is a lot to process and take in. As most of you know, my mother was the sole caretaker of my sister, Brittney. My wife and I will now be taking over her care. Due to her unexpected passing, I am swallowing my pride and asking for any donations to help relieve the financial stressors we will face (medical, cremation, etc.).
Anything, even just a share, would help. We would greatly appreciate it.
My mother wanted to be cremated, so we will respect her wishes. We are planning to hold a celebration of life in lieu of a funeral. Once we have more information, we will update everyone at that time.
