We are Carlos, Kenda, and Helea. We have been affected by the Eaton Fire in Altadena. Our family is safe; we made it out alive, but we have lost almost everything. Our house, our community. I'm a "disaster" guy (Carlos) since on the side I actually work for FEMA/USAID as part of one of the urban search and rescue teams you see on TV. I've been to Turkey and Mexico for recent earthquakes, as well as hurricanes and mudslides. I've also been part of direct assistance to residents of Malibu, etc., in the aftermath of the Woolsey Fire as part of my day-to-day with LA County. So, I know exactly what happens during and after an event like this. I've seen the trauma firsthand experienced by these communities. But it's so different when the disaster comes to you. This is so heavy. Mostly for our daughter. We appreciate any support for the transition to a new normal.
