Aid for Buddy's Road to Recovery
10 year old retired CBP dog Buddy served with Customs and border protection in Jacksonville for 8 years working closely with his partner Witte! He had a distinguished career, amongst his many achievements was 975k dollars in undeclared currency, and more than 100 unregistered guns concealed in vehicles, ships and containers leaving the United States. Buddy has been ranked as the number 1 currency and weapons seizure dog for the last 7 years he has garnered more awards than other K9 in CBP history. After a memorable career Buddy had finally earned the honor to retire December 16, 2024. His handler Witte took the great honor of adopting K9 Buddy. After a grueling career from running and jumping into countless containers, ships, vehicles and warehouses, Buddy had acquired many bumps and bruises along the way. After only one month of retirement Buddy was out playing like any good boy and hurt his back on the 3 lower vertebrates rendering him immobile. Buddy has had surgery to repair the discs and vertebrae and the outlook is looking positive even though he has a long tough road ahead of him, if anyone knows Buddy he’s probably one of the toughest dogs we know. The operation cost was $13,000 dollars, which is a huge amount of money for anyone to pay. This beautiful kind natured dog has given his whole life to serve and protect the public and make the world a safer and better place. It’s hoped the public will be kind enough to give back and help him when he needs us the most. Any amount helps, and everything is greatly appreciated.
