I am a Doberman rescuer based out of Michigan. I work underneath Great Babies Rescue.
Tonight, Christmas Eve, as I finished running my errands at Walmart, a message popped up on my phone screen saying that a friend of mine that is a rescuer in the high desert, near Victorville, California was just wiped out by flash floods and hurricane winds. All her tarps were taken. All of her blankets and towels. Everything she owns was wiped out. On a good day. She doesn't have electricity or running water. She gets water delivered once a week by a friend, and sometimes can get minimal electricity by using small solar panels to power her cell phone. This is an extremely dedicated rescue person who does rescue to the extreme.
She has not breed specific like myself, but I met her because of a doberman we rescued together, and we have since saved at least 4 more dobermans. As I sit here in my warm home, I can't imagine how she feels out in the desert in the dark, the cold and the rain and the wind with no supplies.
I'm not going to name her because she's very proud. She helps those dogs out in the desert by feeding them and housing them and finding them new homes. She also works with a vet clinic to get them their shots.
I know she's not the only one in horrible conditions tonight on Christmas Eve out in California, and my sympathies go out to all. But this is someone who has helped me in the past, to get those dogs from California to Michigan. if you can send a few dollars to help, I would be oh so grateful and honored. She needs some tarps, blankets, a sleeping bag, and propane to keep the dogs warm. Of course she's also going to need dog food as well.
I don't have all the details yet nor do I have actual pictures of the situation. But I will provide updates on this and if there are any other rescuers out there that need help and the funds come in I will certainly funnel those funds directly to the people that need them.
Thank you for considering helping the single woman who's alone in the desert tonight with no electricity, no tarps, and no heat. She doesn't even have towels to dry off the soaking wet dogs. Or blankets to wrap the mom and puppies in. A $5 donation will buy a dog a blanket!
