UPDATE: thank you to everyone who has donated. we are back in the US and grateful for the support.
My wife Ebonny and daughter were victims of a terrorist attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia while visiting family for the holidays .
Their lives were saved by members of the Bondi Jewish community and the Surf Lifesavers Club of Bondi Beach. They took direct fire from high-powered rifles.
This was a traumatic event for Ebonny and our 17 month old. Both have minor physical injuries from ducking under a BBQ grill to avoid gunfire, but more importantly, we will need to seek treatment for the longterm trauma. So far, both of their hospital visits and doctor's appointments have gone well, but it is too soon to tell what might be an enduring issue (for example, they are screening for BBP from the event).
We also accrued financial strain as I had to get on the soonest flight from the US to Australia to go be with my family. Last minute lodging in Sydney took a toll, as have other last minute costs. We have also missed significant amounts of work in order to be present and deal with this ongoing ordeal.
We are seeking financial assistance to offset the cost of emergency flights and lodging, as well as long term therapeutic costs for sustained trauma and missed work time. Thank you for thinking of us during this difficult time.
