Help Support BJ, Levi, and Their Three Young Kids After a Life-Changing Accident

On Monday morning, our brother-in-law BJ suffered a horrific accident at work when a piece of heavy metal equipment—several thousand pounds—fell on him. In a miracle of split-second instinct, he was able to move just enough for it to miss his head, but it landed on his foot, causing devastating injuries.

BJ was immediately rushed to VCU Medical Center, where doctors had no choice but to amputate part of his foot—down to the mid-foot. He’s since undergone a second surgery, where surgeons worked to preserve essential tendons and extend his Achilles in hopes of giving him the ability to walk again. A third surgery is scheduled for Monday to try and close the wound and protect what remains of the limb.

This tragedy has turned life upside down for Levi and their three young children—twin babies turning one and a sweet, active four-year-old. Instead of planning the twins’ first birthday party, Levi is now facing the unimaginable: helping her husband recover from a life-changing injury, caring for three little ones, and figuring out how to keep their home running while BJ remains hospitalized.

BJ is the primary provider for the family, and the road ahead will involve months of recovery, physical therapy, and enormous emotional and financial strain.

We are stepping in as a family to help with the kids and provide support—but they need much more.
