Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support during an incredibly challenging time for my family. My mom, Beni, has been sick for a long time and has been continually misdiagnosed leading to a medical emergency. We know now that she had a dissected aortic aneurysm. She was rushed to the local hospital by ambulance when it began to tear this last Tuesday. From there, she was life-flighted to St. Helena’s Hospital in Napa, CA for open heart surgery. As they were working on my mom’s heart, they realized there was significantly more damage than initially assessed. Fortunately her first surgery was successful and she is making progress.

My stepdad, Don, and I have been tag-teaming support for my mom and while we’re still in the middle of her treatment and recovery, we know that the costs associated with her care will soon become overwhelming.

In the meantime, one of our immediate concerns is helping Don secure a place to stay close to the hospital so that he can be there by her side. He himself is currently recovering from a recent knee surgery and is currently out of work. 

We are not a family that typically asks for help but we are realizing now we cannot do this on our own. We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of my stepdad’s lodging and to prepare for the inevitable medical bills once my mom’s condition stabilizes. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a huge difference and provide much-needed relief during this stressful time.
