Aid for Beloved Grandma's Recovery
Donation protected
My name is Jolene Thweatt and I am organizing this fund raiser for a dear friend who recently suffered from sepsis after her bowel spontaneously ruptured. She is currently at home receiving wound care 3 times a week, but only after hospitalization at Banner Baywood in Mesa, AZ where she received exceptional care in the ICU for two weeks. She has a long road to recover as she will have a colostomy bag for many months while her abdomen slowly heals, and will continue to get hospital bills that currently add up to $9200.00. This woman is everything to everyone and one of the nicest and best-hearted grandmas you could ever know. She has no history of bowel disease so this situation has caught her by surprise, and she has now put her vehicle up for sale to pay her hospital bills. Banner set her up on a monthly plan of $385/mos for the next 2 years, but that does not leave much out of her social security to live on. I do not want to see her sell her transportation and wish I could afford to do more, but I thought as a nurse practitioner and primary care provider, I could at least help her with "charity," as I know none of us like to take but sometimes we must. Any help to reach our goal is greatly appreciated.
