6 months ago, our beloved cat Stolas abruptly became ill. We brought him in immediately to be seen and learned that he was in end-stage kidney failure with a very poor prognosis. We did everything we could, but with our limited funds we couldn't give him the level of care that would give him the best chance possible. Within a matter of days, his condition deteriorated to the point that we made the difficult decision to say goodbye.

The cost of his hospitalization and cremation put my partner and I in extreme financial strain. Through the incredible kindness of friends and family, we have been making ends meet - just barely.

Now, while our hearts are still reeling from the loss of our sweet boy, our other baby Beleth's life is in peril. After her expensive prescription pet food made a sudden, unannounced change in formula, she became violently ill. She wasn't able to keep any food down and lost nearly 10% of her body weight. After some blood work, the vets urged us to get her hospitalized immediately - her liver and gallbladder were in a critical state.

My partner and I are in a desperate situation. We wouldn't ask for help if that weren't the case. We haven't had the chance to financially recover from Stolas' end of life care before being hit again with this emergency - facing vet bills already totaling over $4k and increasing. Things are dire. We're having to make some very difficult decisions.

As I type, Beleth is currently in a stable condition but is not yet out of the woods. Her fever has cleared, her liver numbers are stable but still elevated, and her gallbladder numbers have continued to slightly increase. We are praying that it's just a matter of needing more time for medications to work their magic before the bloodwork reflects her recovery. Either way, we cannot afford to keep her in the hospital any longer, and we're left with no choice but to bring her home and continue to administer her medications and hope for the best.

Any help that we can receive would mean the world to us. It would mean being able to keep food on the table, being able to continue Beleth's care, and being able to monitor her progress (and intervene if things to not improve.) We know that times are tough for everyone right now, but we are so desperate to help our black bean purrito and are grateful for anything you can do to help us out.
