Aid for Aidan's Recovery
Donation protected
On the morning of May 27th, around 9:30am, Aidan Wright was walking to work in broad daylight in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia when she was randomly attacked and stabbed six times in the back and sides. Aidan miraculously survived this violent assault thanks to the quick action of a bystander, her own willpower, and an extensive emergency surgery to repair her two collapsed lungs, punctured liver, kidney, bladder, and stomach. Her assailant has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and intent to kill.
One week out, Aidan faces a long and difficult road to recovery, and will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. At the time of the stabbing, Aidan was making her daily commute, by way of a 10 minute walk, to her nannying job where she cares for a nine-month-old baby boy. Aside from her nannying work, Aidan was continuing her search for a job in the art history field, and unfortunately living paycheck to paycheck.
Aidan now looks to her community in this unprecedented time of need. On her behalf, we are humbly asking for financial help to afford the costs of rent and bills. Additionally, there is a very likely chance there will be medical expenses that are not covered under insurance given her enrollment in a public insurance plan, which is unsurprisingly not comprehensive. We do not yet know the extent of these specific medical expenses, but want to help brace Aidan for the financial impact the best we can. We will be sure to update this GoFundMe as her insurance situation develops in the weeks after she is discharged from the hospital.
We hope to help ease the burden of this horrific experience by relieving financial stress so that Aidan can focus on making a full and complete recovery. Aidan is an incredible friend and daughter, a talented artist, and an unequivocally kind individual who has given so much of herself, her brilliance, and her heart to her communities— there is no one more deserving of this assistance than her. Any amount you can give is profoundly helpful, as is sharing this GoFundMe with others if you do not have the means to contribute financially. Thank you all so much, from the bottom of our hearts.
