Aid for a Resilient Family in Transition after Helene
Donation protected
I’m reaching out to ask for help for Aaron and Kristin during this unimaginable transition because of the devastation from Hurricane Helene. Their boys’ daycare were severely damaged and will be closed indefinitely. Additionally, Kristin and Aaron workplaces are shut down for the foreseeable future. Meaning their lives as they knew it are completely upended.
I know that so many people are affected by the devastation of Hurricane Helene, and it’s hard to know where to start when it comes to offering support. But if you’re able, any contribution would mean the world to a family that has always given so much of themselves to others. This is a chance to help them as they face this difficult and uncertain road ahead.
Kristin and Aarons family will do whatever it is to support them however they still need love and support from their community during this time.
Their Story:
Aaron and Kristin have been parenting Ira and Atwood as they navigate being uprooted by the devastation of Hurricane Helene. Their home and community were caught in the storm’s worst path. For days, they were completely cut off—no food, water, electricity, or gas. Roads were washed away, and an 80-foot tree crushed their car, coming terrifyingly close to their house. Through it all, they survived with the help of their neighbors, a testament to the strength of their community.
Though they feel fortunate their home is still standing with only minor damage, their hearts are heavy as they’ve had to leave behind the place they love. They’ve packed up what they could into a rental car and are now staying with Kristin’s parents in Indiana for an uncertain amount of time. Right now, they’re simply trying to rest, process, and heal from the shock of this overwhelming disaster while FEMA and the National Guard work to bring life back to Asheville and nearby areas.
