Aid Flying Dragons Pole Vault Club After Devastating Theft
Donation protected
On the morning of August 3rd at 5:30 am, in the hotel parking lot in Humble, TX, in under 3 minutes, someone stole Mike and Cheryl’s truck along with $50,000 worth of pole vault poles and bags belonging to Flying Dragons Pole Vault Club. It appears that there is little hope of recovering the poles or obtaining insurance coverage.
This is a devastating loss for the club. For those who know Mike Cockerham, you know he would do anything for a pole vaulter. He doesn’t like to ask for help or handouts, but due to this theft, many athletes no longer have poles to jump on, and the cost to replace them is something the club cannot afford.
The club is a not-for-profit that operates on dues paid by athletes, with all that money going back into the club for rent and equipment. No coach is paid. Mike does all that he does for the athletes without taking a paycheck.
Several people have asked if they can donate; therefore, we have decided to open the GoFundMe for those who would like to help. All donations will go towards the club being able to replace the stolen poles and bags.
Thank you all for the support during this tragic time.
