Feick Show Cattle experienced devastation this morning like none other. Every 4-H and FFA member's worst nightmare came true for the family as they were forced to watch their show barn burn to the ground. Only able to get one heifer from the barn safely, before it became too hot and smoky for humans, this family of 5 devoted showmen lost 2 show heifers, along with all their show equipment, tools, and a complete work office.
Malibu, the surviving heifer, is one of a hopeful line the Feick's hope to use to improve their herd of registered Red Angus cattle. Kaeden has shown all over the US and has won numerous shows with his cattle; alongside his mom, Cheryl, and father Kurt, his brother Kurt and sister Khloe, they have lived a life of cattle and ranching.
Khloe, age 8, was to begin showing cattle this year. Her grandparents, who raise both registered Herefords and Romagnola cattle, gifted her with a Hereford heifer this year that was tragically lost in the fire. She was to be the start of little Khloe's own herd. Little Kurt had fallen in love with a little Red Angus heifer named Venus and had big plans to travel the roads and compete against his brother and the heifer he'd picked, Malibu.
Beyond the horrid loss of animals that these kids have raised from birth, cared for, fed, and trained, the family has lost years of accumulated tack, tools, paperwork from the ranch, and a collection of irreplaceable photos of the kids showing.
While the family does have insurance, we all know that insurance takes forever. I'm creating this GoFundMe for my best friend, my kids' show family, and a general overall positive contributor to the ag community.
