Aid Erica Carter's Medical and Care Needs

My name is Mandy Gyr, mother of one 17-year-old daughter. I have worked these 11 years as a dental assistant. Like most of you, living paycheck to paycheck and just getting by. My daughter's name is Erica Carter. She is a very independent young lady. She is a good student attending Cook High School of Adel, GA. She is loved by all teachers who are always sending postcards and things home letting me know how proud they are of her. As her mother, I'd have to agree. Along with going to school and keeping her grades up, she also works at Western Sizzlin of Adel, GA, and has been employed there for over a year now. Her managers love her because at the age of 17 she has shown them outstanding work ethic and dedication. As a parent, our biggest challenge is keeping our teenagers safe once they start to venture off into their own person. They get their driver's license and before you know it they are coming and going without you there to say, watch out for that other car, or watch your speed. Every parent knows that one day their child will be in a car accident. It's not a matter of "if" it's "when". The night I had feared and dreaded since the day she got her license was Feb 19, 2025, at approximately 9 pm. My daughter sent me a text just like any other night, that she was about to head home. I texted back "be safe, roads are wet." It had been raining all day that day. No more than 6 minutes later she hydroplaned and lost control of her car. She overcorrected causing her to run off the road where she crashed into a pine tree. She was ejected from the vehicle and sustained multiple injuries. I will never forget that phone call informing me that my child has been in a fatal car accident and being rushed to the hospital by ambulance. Looking at the aftermath, what was left of her car, it's God's miracle she survived. She did undergo surgery and had to have a rod put in her right leg due to a compound fracture of the femur bone. She spent 5 days in the hospital and was released without getting proper physical therapy due to insurance issues. I have been out of work for two weeks now caring for her myself, not really knowing when I'll be able to go back to work. The cause for this GoFundMe is to help with my daughter's medical bills and supplies needed to care for her at home and financial support while I'm out of work. Every little bit is much appreciated. What made America great is people helping people who are trying to help themselves through compassion and we really need your help. I know times are tough, that's why GoFundMe was established, and I think it is a great cause. God bless all of you. Thank you, Mandy.
