Dear Friends and Family,

I never imagined that I would be reaching out for help in this way, but today, I find myself with no choice. My daughter, Emma Cunningham, and I have been hit with another devastating tragedy that has left us in a very difficult position.

This past Wednesday, while Emma was working on her candle business, a candle wax fire got out of control. In her attempt to put out the fire, it quickly engulfed our kitchen, and the sprinklers were set off. In the chaos that followed, Emma suffered third-degree burns on both of her hands, and she is understandably traumatized by the experience. We are working with the wound clinic to ensure she heals properly, but the emotional toll on her is significant.

To make matters worse, the water damage from the sprinklers affected not only our unit but also the tenants below us. We are now displaced from our home, and we can’t move back in until extensive repairs are completed—estimated to take about three weeks. Unfortunately, we didn’t have renters insurance, as we had just moved in and finally started to settle from a previous hardship.

The damages to our home are estimated to be over $13,000, and this doesn’t even cover the costs of moving and storing our belongings during the repairs. As a single mom without child support, these expenses are a huge burden for me to bear alone.

I never ask for help, but right now, I am humbly reaching out to see if you can support us through this incredibly challenging time. Any donation, no matter how small, would be a tremendous help and deeply appreciated.
