My name is David Bailey, and I have coached within AYSO Region 13 for the last 8 years. I am collaborating with a group of volunteers within the region who have been tasked by Region 13's leadership with coordinating fundraising and equipment donations.
We are specifically fundraising for replacement soccer equipment for players within AYSO Region 13 impacted by the Eaton Fire to enable them to participate in team sports. Getting these kids back on the field will help them build resilience and ease the stress caused by these traumatic events.
The need for players participating in our All Star and Grad Series programs is urgent as the first round of games is scheduled to commence this weekend (January 18th/19th). Our core Fall Program serves over 2,500 children in the Altadena, La Canada, and Pasadena area, and we anticipate significant need for financial support and equipment donations for our players in the fall.
In the short term, we are using the funds to provide players with a backpack containing athletic apparel, shin guards, and cleats to enable them to participate in practices and matches. Donations in any amount will make a difference to our players. A donation of $75 can provide a player with cleats; a donation of $250 can provide them with an entire backpack.
If you would like to donate directly through AYSO Region 13's website, please feel free to use this link or search for "AYSO13 donate" and choose "sponsor a player." While the website lists an amount of $110, you can edit the amount. Please email the treasurer at ayso13.org to note that you have made a donation and you would like the funds to go to Eaton Fire relief efforts.
If you have any questions regarding this campaign, please feel free to contact me or our Regional Commissioner Terry Takahashi.
