This fundraiser has been created on behalf of one of our region’s most dedicated and kind-hearted Deputy Sheriffs, Frankie Dean Holder Jr. For more than two years, Deputy Holder has fought courageously against stomach cancer, which ultimately required the removal of his stomach in November 2024. Today, he continues his battle as cancer has spread to his kidneys and liver, requiring ongoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Despite these overwhelming challenges, Deputy Holder remains the humble, service-driven person he has always been, never one to ask for help, even now.

Deputy Holder began his career in 2005 with McDowell County Animal Control and moved into the patrol division in 2009. Over the years, his dedication to public service earned him multiple honors, including Deputy of the Year in 2017. In 2023, he joined the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office as a court officer and was named the 2024 Divisional Employee of the Year. Even after going on medical leave due to his cancer diagnosis, he continued to impress his colleagues and was awarded the Certificate of Excellence by the Superior Court Chief Justice earlier this year.

As one can imagine, the emotional and financial impact of his treatments has placed a significant burden on his family. The staff of the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office has supported him as much as possible, but we are now reaching out to the broader community for additional assistance. Deputy Holder has spent his entire career helping others; now we have an opportunity to help him. Your generosity will directly support his medical expenses, his family, and his continued fight for recovery.
