Aid Dempsey's Journey to Rehabilitation and Health

Dempsey had a massive stroke caused by a spontaneous brain bleed on March 26th. This was followed by almost immediate brain surgery by the fantastic neurosurgeons at UW Hospital in Madison, WI. They saved his life. After a long stay in Neuro ICU and a second brain surgery, Dempsey is now home focusing on his recovery.  He currently has left-sided hemiplegia and is working very hard at therapy with incredible therapists from Resilience Neuro PT and Neuro Connections OT to regain his independence. There have been many ups and downs but Dempsey continues to fight and his personality shines through. His mother has taken a leave of absence from her job as a nurse to be Dempsey’s caregiver. Any amount donated helps as neither of them have any income at this time. We are eagerly anticipating Dempsey’s upcoming cranioplasty in June to put his skull back together after his initial life saving craniectomy the day he had his stroke.

We anticipate the need for intensive rehabilitation for at least the next year. Insurance has not covered any of his home therapy thus far and outpatient therapy is booked up till almost August. He also had to move to a more expensive ADA accessible apartment and does not have any current income.
