Aid Dempsey's Journey to Rehabilitation and Health
Donation protected
Dempsey had a massive stroke caused by a spontaneous brain bleed on March 26th. This was followed by almost immediate brain surgery by the fantastic neurosurgeons at UW Hospital in Madison, WI. They saved his life. He has since been in the Neuro ICU and has had a second brain surgery this week that they hope has removed the cause of the bleeding. They believe it was a spot of abnormal blood vessels in his brain that ruptured. He currently has left-sided paralysis but is now able to breathe and talk on his own. There have been many ups and downs in the last week, but Dempsey continues to fight, and his personality shines through. He remains very critical and has very tight limits right now on blood pressure and heart rate as he recovers from two brain surgeries. Visitors are very limited for now. If anyone would like to send him cards or notes, please address them to:

We anticipate the need for intensive rehabilitation for at least the next year. Insurance will help with some of this, especially in the first couple of months, but will not cover all he will need ongoing. He also will most likely need to find a more accessible living situation after rehab. If you are able to contribute towards funds for Dempsey’s medical expenses, it is much appreciated. If you are not able to, send all your love his way and remember to cherish your friends and family and tell them you love them today. We will keep you updated. As the doctors keep telling us, this journey Dempsey is now on is a marathon, not a sprint.
