Hello, my name is Demetria (Dee).

I've been on dialysis for 8 years now. For the last 2 years, I have been going through the process of trying to get on the transplant list. Lots of labs, tests, and finding out I had heart problems that needed to be taken care of with surgery. Traveling to Chapel Hill several times for physicals and diagnostic tests. On June 25th, I received the call I was waiting on. I have been officially placed on the kidney transplant list. All I'm waiting for now is a call saying they have a kidney for me. This may happen a week from now or months from now. I'm just so thankful to have made it to the list.

The transplant team recommends that recipients do fundraisers to help with post-transplant needs such as lifelong medications, hotel needs, and travel/transportation. I will have to travel to Chapel Hill after being discharged 2-3 times a week for labs and assessment of the wound. I am asking anyone who can to please donate to my cause. If unable to donate, I understand. Please share. There may be someone who can donate funds or even a kidney. Please continue to pray for me and my family as we get through this.
