My name is Deidra, and I’m creating this GoFundMe for my sister, who is currently in the toughest fight of her life. She was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a rare and aggressive cancer that requires intense, round-the-clock treatment.

She has been hospitalized for weeks, undergoing chemotherapy that will continue for at least a month or longer. The chemo has been extremely hard on her body. Right now, she’s battling oral mucositis, a painful complication that makes it difficult for her to eat or even speak. Even through all of this, she stays strong, patient, and hopeful.

My sister is 44 years old, a mother, a daughter, a sister, and someone who has always put everyone else first. She has taken her diagnosis with incredible bravery. She is also diabetic, which makes recovery even more challenging; yet she continues to push forward every single day.

This has been emotionally and financially overwhelming for our family. She cannot work during this extended hospitalization and recovery, and everyday expenses are starting to stack up; medical bills, medications, transportation to the hospital, and the basic needs of keeping her home life stable while she fights to get better.

We are asking for help so she can focus on one thing only: healing.
