Title: Help Debora Hernandez recover after a devastating car accident

Introduction:
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Hearted Strangers,
I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart to share my story as a young woman who was recently struck by a car in a tragic accident while on my way to school. The vehicle not only knocked me down, but also ran me over while I was on the ground. As you can imagine, this has greatly impacted my life in so many different ways.

Details of the incident
On November 18, 2024, around 7 am, I was involved in a serious car accident when I was crossing the street on my way to school. As I crossed within a crosswalk, a driver did not see me and collided with my body. I had sustained various fractures on my rib and pelvic region and am recovering from a collapsed lung. I was in a coma for approximately a day and needed to stay in the hospital for several weeks.

Impact on my life:

This is a day I will always remember for the rest of my life. This was something that had never crossed my mind once. If I went back in time and told my younger self I was in a serious accident such as this, I wouldn't believe it. It was a normal day of heading to school, and I am always trying to stay ahead with the amount of work I have to complete. I personally don't like to procrastinate and wait until the last minute; that just stresses me out even more! In my junior year my plan was to obtain and maintain the highest grades I could possibly achieve. I planned to learn and practice as much information I got from my different classes. I had planned to stay on top of the three main classes that are the most challenging material, and always be present in class no matter if it rained or if it was too hot; I'd be there. I had made a promise to myself that I would do the best of my ability to achieve these dreams and do so much more, but it had all been disrupted with this accident. When I was on the floor, I wasn't able to breathe, and my vision began to blur. I was confused at first as to what had happened, but all I understood at the time was that my body was in pain and I couldn't get up. During those moments that I was on the floor I honestly thought I was going to die. I thought that I wouldn't be able to graduate, and I wouldn't be able to become a doctor. As I woke up from my coma, I was told what had happened to me. My first thought was…school. Of the amount of homework I had to complete and the projects I was going to miss. From then on my goal was to recover as soon as possible and get back on track with my academic goals.

Why we are asking for help:
I am asking for your help today because as the days go by the medical bills , transportation cost for physical therapy, daily living expenses, and many other costs continue to pile up and are devastating. My mother had to stop working in order to be able to help me with this journey of recovery and her job doesn't provide any type of paid leave.Your generous donations will help me and my family keep moving forward.

How can you help:
No contribution is too small, and every bit helps. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign with others who may be able to contribute. Your support, whether financial or emotional, means the world to me and my family during this challenging time.

Conclusion:
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read this and for your generosity. We will keep you updated on my recovery journey and I am incredibly grateful for your kindness and support.

With Deepest Gratitude,

Debora Hernandez
