Hi, my name is Davonte Halcomb. I’m 32 years old, and I’m reaching out during one of the hardest and longest years of my life.
On June 22, 2024, my life changed forever. I was hit by a U-Haul truck while riding my motorcycle—my only form of transportation. The crash was so severe that my motorcycle was completely totaled, and I had to be life-flighted to the hospital. I spent the next two months in a coma.
When I woke up, everything had changed. I had to relearn how to walk, communicate, and live with the new limitations I now face. I suffered a broken leg, a broken arm, and a shattered pelvis. There’s also significant nerve damage that I continue to struggle with daily—and I still have more surgeries ahead.
I haven’t been able to work since the accident—almost a full year now. I’ve had to sell many of my personal belongings just to keep my apartment and stay afloat. The emotional, physical, and financial toll has been overwhelming, but I’m doing my best to keep moving forward.
I’m asking for your help to get through this and build toward a better future. Your support will go toward:
Medical expenses, physical therapy, and upcoming surgeries
Rent and everyday living costs
Saving for a reliable vehicle so I can return to work when I’m able
This has been the hardest year of my life—but I’m still here. I’m healing, I’m fighting, and I’m hopeful. Every donation, every share, and every kind word brings me one step closer to recovery and stability.
Thank you so much for reading my story and being part of this journey.
