Aid David's Recovery from a Serious Illness
Donation protected
Meet David and Angie, they need our help. If you know David and Angie, I don't have to tell you what wonderful people they are. I don't have to tell you that David is a caring, amazing father and partner to Angie, his fiancée, or tell you how hard he works to take care of their family, working a very labor-intensive job so that his family has everything they need. I don't have to tell you that Angie is an equally devoted parent and loyal friend who is always quick to give anyone a hand up. In what should be the happiest time of their lives as they plan for an August wedding, they have now found themselves in the scariest time of their lives.
On Thursday, July 10th, Angie received a frightening call: David had collapsed in the woods and although alert, he could not move. Due to his remote location, it took hours for his crew to get him out and for Angie to get him to the hospital. Doctors ran tests for two days to determine the cause of his collapse. As a last resort, one doctor suggested a brain scan. That brain scan likely saved David's life.
The scan revealed that David has Neurocysticercosis, a rare but serious parasitic brain infection. This condition can lead to severe health problems, including seizures, neurological and cognitive deficits, and even death.
Medication is available to treat this infection. However, a two-week supply costs $6,000. While David's insurance will cover a portion, his co-pay is $2,000 every two weeks. The length of time he will need the medication is unknown; it could be from 6 weeks to several months.
David is unable to work, making covering these co-payments impossible. The support of our community is requested. Any contribution will help David get the treatment he needs to recover and get his life back. Even sharing David's story with others would also be valuable and appreciated.
Thank you for reading this and for considering how to help David and Angie during this time. They ask for your thoughts and prayers.
With heartfelt gratitude.
