I am starting this gofundme on behalf of my cousin, Dasha Dmitrienko. Born in Siberia, Dasha and her brother Denis were adopted into our family in New Jersey. Dasha then moved to California 3 years ago with her beloved dog, Charlie, where she began to notice serious health issues with Charlie and herself.

Charlie unexpectedly passed away shortly after moving to California and Dasha began experiencing excruciating pain during her menstrual cycle. This pain continued and Dasha recently had an exploratory operation so doctors could see what was going on.

Unfortunately, doctors saw black masses all over her uterus and she will now be undergoing a hysterectomy at only 34 years old. Oddly enough, Dasha noticed that many young women in that area of California have had or are getting hysterectomies. We will never know exactly what caused this, but fortunately, Dasha is still able to freeze her eggs so she can have kids of her own in the future.

Dasha’s hysterectomy will be covered by insurance. However, she will need to freeze her eggs before undergoing surgery, which is not covered by insurance. Egg freezing is very costly - at least $10,000 to retrieve the eggs, and fees of $800-$900 a year to keep them in the bank. She plans to keep her eggs frozen for the next 2 years, and then will make a decision whether to continue freezing her eggs or have children.

Despite everything, Dasha has maintained such a positive demeanor and outlook, and it is truly inspiring. She hopes in the future to have children of her own, or to adopt a child herself and give it a loving home.
