Aid Dan's Healing Journey After Pit Bull Attack

My name is Wendy and I'm raising funds for my husband Dan's medical bills and lost wages. He is 62 and diabetic. On Monday, November 4, 2024, he was attacked by our neighbor's pit bull. We were walking down the sidewalk when our neighbor approached to pass us, and the dog lunged at me. My husband stepped in front of me, taking the hit from the dog. The dog took him to the ground, biting and clamping onto his right foot. His hand was injured as well when he tried to pry the dog's mouth open to get him off. It took me hitting the dog repeatedly in the head, the owner of the dog, and my husband to get the dog to release. After calling 911, he was treated in urgent care. His age and medical condition are making the bites worse and will take longer for him to heal. Animal control now has the dog, but I am unemployed, having just recently lost my job. My husband is now our sole income, and these unexpected doctor bills and lost wages are going to drain us. We have never done this kind of request for help before, but a friend told me about this, so we're asking for help. Anything would be greatly appreciated. The owners of the dog have so far not contacted us to ask about my husband or offered to help us in any way. We are going to try to get them to pay for the medical and lost wages but do not hold out any hope of this happening. Again, we appreciate any help. Thank you.
