Hi there, I am Jessica Klopfenstein. The Stewarts have been like a second family to me since Davette and I were in high school working at Kroger together. Her parents became my second parents, Matt and Danette. Matt was a man of very few words but one of the kindest men I knew! He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Danette has a huge heart. Her love for her family and animals is unmatched. They love their grandchildren and would do anything for any one of them!

On Thursday, December 5th, the unthinkable happened. Matt and Danette’s family home had a fire. Matt was inside the home; however, he was able to get out and get to the neighbors where they called 911 and Danette.

Although Matt successfully made it out, he was burned with second and third-degree burns covering 80-90% of his body. Lutheran Hospital airlifted him to a burn unit in Indy.

On December 7th at 9:46 pm, Matt passed away. He may have lost his life, but fortunately, he was able to donate some of his organs.

Their house was declared a total loss, and their two dogs, Arlow and Hank, did not survive either.

Danette lost all her belongings as well. I’m starting this GoFundMe to raise money for her and to hopefully lessen the stress of the extra expenses.
