On the morning of April 8th, my dad suffered a stroke at his place of employment. Luckily, he was able to realize what was happening and rushed to the hospital where he immediately began treatment, and prevented its escalation or severe permanent side effects. The stroke was caused by small vessel disease of the basal ganglia and was unpreventable as it's genetic. He was hospitalized for 3 weeks that included extensive testing, and began physical therapy for the damage that remains. A lot of you know my dad as the long time lead guitarist of two of Lincoln’s favorite local bands, The Rockin’ Fossils, and The Raw Nerve. He has been a musician his entire life, it’s always been his greatest passion and one of his biggest sources of joy. Unfortunately, the damage that was caused by the stroke included significant impairment on his right side, even his ability to sing the same as before. He’s undergoing physical therapy, and will be for quite a while, and we can only pray that he will be back on stage doing what he loves again as soon as he’s able. But that’s the least of his concerns right now, as he is unable to work his day job for an unknown length of time, and the financial situation is becoming serious. Medical bills are pouring in, on top of the existing costs of living expenses. Please help take the pressure and anxiety off a little by helping if you can, then he can focus on getting through rehab and get back to bringing music and joy to all of you, as well as him.
