Aid Dad's Journey Through Chemo and Heart Care

As most of you know by now, the week of Christmas my dad was hospitalized after a 4th heart attack. During this time, he received news that not only would he need a heart operation beyond stents at some point, but that he had cancer as well.

This week marked his 7th chemo treatment out of hopefully 8, and he has been a rockstar through it all. Being the hard worker that he is, he has continued to show up to Central Market and work, even if only for an hour or two some days. He has continued to show up to band events for his grandchildren, birthday parties, and holiday get-togethers. Each week during his chemo infusions, he brings ME a goodie bag filled with snacks and drinks. He continues to support those around him, and I would love if we could all turn and give him a little additional support.

Despite having insurance and having met his deductible, well, we all know what healthcare in America is like.

After he finishes up chemo, he’ll need to undergo a series of radiation, followed up with surgery, and then after all of this is done, his heart will need to be taken care of.

Any amount raised will be a tremendous help. His endurance has gone down these past few weeks, making his hours at work decrease by more than half. He has chosen to reserve applying for short-term disability until he needs surgery so that he can have the appropriate amount of time off to heal and recover.

Being able to put an initial amount down on a payment plan for all of his scans and imaging is at the top of the financial list right now, and anything beyond that will secure transportation to and from appointments, be used for food that he’s able to keep down and that will still nourish him, and be set aside for expenses that arise with surgery.
