My best friend Crystal Havely is 6.5 hours away in Kodak, TN without a vehicle, no local family, and no funds to save to purchase one. She desperately needs our help securing safe and dependable transportation so that she doesn't lose her very affordable and healing home ($751/month) of the past 4 years.

Crystal needs a vehicle to get to on call retail work, medical appointments, physical therapy, workers comp appointments, job interviews for full-time employment, grandchildren visits, and to get her dog Benson to the vet.

A series of unfortunate events that happened this winter have left her without transportation and full-time employment.

Crystal had knee surgery for a workers comp claim in January. Upon her return to work in February, she was terminated on February 14th. I definitely was not feeling the love that Valentine's Day towards a company she was reliable to and with for a year+.

My friend is a go getter. She lives a very frugal and responsible life and was driving a 2007 Ford Freestyle that she maintained to 180,000 miles on it.

She was saving for another vehicle when she was let go from her employer so she took that savings for a replacement used car to fix her car. She spent $1346 for oil leaks and other work February 20th to keep driving to job interviews while helping a former colleague close a fabric store at 1/3 the pay she made where she was hurt. Ironically, that new friend also had a workers comp claim with the same employer. She's been incredible, driving Crystal to and from the fabric store whenever she has a shift to work, to the emergency room, and to a couple of medical appointments. Because the chain is closing, management is agreeable to this working arrangement.

The reason she's being driven to this opportunity is because her car's transmission went out February 28th and it's not made anymore beyond a used one that isn't guaranteed at $3100 and her vehicle was worth -$150 in it's condition to $600 excellent condition retail. Her friend who owns a transmission place was honest about her situation. So, she was forced to sell it as is to a junker.

We have posted on social media repeatedly asking for anyone in her tribe with an extra vehicle sitting in the driveway to loan it to her while she continues to look for full-time employment and works to save to buy a vehicle, but no one has responded or offered to help her.

I have been able to cover her bills in March, medical appointment co-pays, her groceries, and paid her rent for April.

However, I can not get her a vehicle and that's why I need the help of the kindness of strangers. Any amount donated to my friend will be used towards purchase of a used vehicle to get her from A to B, so that she can work FT and on call to keep her apartment, medical appointments to heal from this injury, and to he able to see her grandchildren.

She also has a friend who's willing to look at used cars with her so she doesn't get more problems and another repair that can't be done.

I don't know if you have ever not had a car living paycheck to paycheck somewhere that your employment requires you to be able to play team and come in when others don't, but it's impossible to keep a job that way. We have tried Uber and it's hit or miss in Kodak, TN. We will be trying Lyft until she can buy something because we are told that you can lock your price in IF you set your schedule with them for rides.
