Aid Corine in Kyra's Fight for Recovery
Donation protected
My name is Angela and I am asking for donations to help my dear friend, Corine during this time of need. Her daughter, Kyra, a healthy student and athlete who is a senior this year in high school, set to graduate with aspirations to study in the medical field mysteriously became sick one week ago. Sudden seizures, psychosis, altered mental status, and memory loss warranted immediate ICU admission at U of M-Sparrow Hospital. She became a medical mystery with countless inconclusive test results. The wonderful medical team finally presented answers, diagnosing her of the rare neurological disorder called "Autoimmune Encephalopathy" associated with autoimmune Thyroiditis.
Autoimmune Encephalopathy is a type of brain inflammation where the body’s immune system compromises the central nervous system. It is a rare, complex disease that can cause rapid changes in both physical and mental health. Symptoms can vary from patient to patient. They can include a sudden decline in work or school performance, loss of the ability to speak, abnormal body movements or seizures, vision loss, weakness of the arms or legs, and sleep problems. Neuropsychiatric features can develop from anxiety and mood changes to psychosis with hallucinations, delusions or catatonia. For Kyra, her condition has become more on the severity level with frequent seizures, psychosis, immense memory loss, and drastic decline in her functioning.
My friend, Corine needs financial help in providing continuation of care and treatment for her daughter. Recovery can take anywhere from six months to a year to even longer based on symptom management. Corine could use any help and support as she is also a single mother of three with only one income. Any help can alleviate any financial burdens she is expected to face while continuing to help her daughter in recovery, i.e., transportation, possible lost wages, medical treatment. Corine is one of the most selfless, caring, and compassionate people anyone has ever met, always looking out and taking care of others. This time around, I would like it to be her turn to be taken care of as she continues to take care of her own.
Thank you and God Bless.
