Aid Community Recovery from Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
Hi folks! I am trying to raise funds for my two best friends and their children affected by Hurricane Helene. They are grateful to be alive after this catastrophic storm hit their beloved community near Asheville, North Carolina; however, the damage and devastation to their homes and well-being will take years to recover. These amazing women are both single moms and have worked as social workers in their community for the last several years. The storm has demolished the infrastructure of roads, water, and power. Schools, childcare, and businesses are closed with no definitive date of reopening. They are living under a strict boil water policy, but the resources to do this are also scarce.
I am starting this GoFundMe for them because I feel it is the only way to help from all the way across the country. I have known these women for more than a decade. They are terrific moms and have triumphed over much adversity, but nothing can prepare you for a natural disaster.
While donating items, water, and food has been helpful, they still need to get gas and pay bills with no income in the foreseeable future as the community scrambles to rebuild. I am asking my friends and family on social media to lend a hand.
The communities in North Carolina and Tennessee are strong. Having visited this past summer, I was welcomed with love and the warmest hospitality. We swam at a beautiful river at a campground that is no longer there in Erwin, TN.
The people are uniting to help one another, volunteering goods, time, and energy to care for each other. Please help me show them love and support from around the country and help them reassemble their lives. Thank you for your help.
