Aid Colton's Fight for Survival and Care

Yesterday morning, 12/16/2024, I couldn't locate my 31-year-old son, Colton, who suffers from debilitating anxiety. At about 7:30 am, I received a phone call from the university hospital's ICU informing me that my son had jumped off of a freeway overpass in a suicide attempt. He was intubated and not responsive. He had broken both wrists, his spine, his ribs, and a tibia. He had head and brain trauma and had a probe inserted through a hole in his skull into his brain. Last night, they did an MRI. I was informed that if he survives, he would never be able to walk again. They will do surgery on his spine today so it can support his upper body. The next five to six days are critical to his survival.
I am 77 years old and he is my only child. However, I cannot afford to be with him during this critical time. The hospital is one and a half hours away. Furthermore, if he survives, I cannot afford the proper care for his condition, and worse, if he doesn't survive, I can't afford to lay him to rest. Any contribution is extremely appreciated.
12/18/24: They couldn't perform the spine surgery because of increased brain pressure. They will work on that and then attempt the spine surgery. Its day to day, minute to minute right now. His life is hanging on a thread.
12/20/24: Still no spine surgery. Due to the pressure on his brain. However, it is slowly getting better. Possibly Monday, 12/23/24, they may be able to do the surgery. His spine was about destroyed, with some of the vertebrae broken completely in half.
12/23/24: The spine surgery was done tonight. The doctor said it went great. They put a rod in his spine to support his upper body so they could sit him up. They were worried that so laying there on life support may cause pneumonia to occur along with bedsores.
Yesterday they they lowered his sedatives a little to see if he had any response. They said he opened his eyes and moved his arms. That is good news for his brain functions.
