Help Two First-Gen Bahamian Students Continue Their Education Journey
Hi, we’re Cody Dean and Maurice Curry, two students from Nassau, Bahamas who recently graduated from Snow College located in Ephraim Utah with our Associate of Science degrees, each maintaining a 3.70–3.80 GPA.
We’re now working toward transferring to four-year universities in the U.S. to pursue our Bachelor’s degrees in Agribusiness and Agricultural Science. Our dream is to become leaders in the fight for food security in the Bahamas a country that currently imports more than 90% of its food. But right now, we’re facing a tough financial roadblock.
Why We're Raising $4,500
We’re asking for $4,500 total ($2,250 each) to help cover moving and housing expenses as we prepare to continue our academic journey at our new schools. Although we’ve worked hard to maintain strong academic records and secure admission, the transition comes with costs we simply can’t afford on our own.
Our Story
Both of us come from hardworking families, but financial challenges have always been part of our journey from struggling to pay tuition to balancing grocery bills. Even now, despite applying for summer jobs and seeking help from our college, there have been no openings available due to limited student employment slots. We’ve also reached out to family for support, but we know their resources are limited too.
Still, we push forward. Why?
Because we want to make our families proud. Because we want to become the first in our families to graduate with bachelor’s degrees. And because we believe in the power of education to transform our country’s future through sustainable agriculture.
Our Dream
Together, we plan to build an agricultural business that not only provides local food but also educates, sustains, and empowers young Bahamians to see agriculture as a future, not a fallback. We want to be the change we wish to see in our country and set an example for our younger siblings and others walking a similar path.
Your donation, no matter the size, would mean the world to us. It would help us take the next step, relieve some of the stress we’re carrying, and remind us that people still believe in dreams that start small but aim to make a big impact.
Any support with funds or by sharing this page is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
With gratitude,
Cody & Maurice
