This amazing man is Clinton Clark, my husband. Some of you may recognize him as the store manager on Mavis over at Summerhill. Some of you may recognize him as the stepfather to four beautiful girls, or the dad to unlimited pets. He is the kind of man who gives the homeless a meal, the kind of man that lets his stepkids paint his nails.

Thursday morning, he had an event that looked like a stroke. His CT and MRI have been negative. They’re putting him through what the doctor called the “million dollar testing” because no one understands what’s going on. Even though he’s more awake, he remains completely disoriented. When he talks, more often than not, it’s nonsensical. He’s confused and doing things that are just not him. He was scrolling through a nonexistent phone.

Today is our sixth anniversary, and we are looking at him being off of work for an unknown amount of time, and in the hospital for an unknown amount of time. He used up all his PTO already this year between illness and taking care of me after wrist surgery. His next check will already be small after these missed days, and I don’t know how long he will be without a paycheck. We are a two-income family for a reason, and with Christmas coming up at the speed of light, I’m terrified. I don’t even know how we will pay our phone bill next week, unfortunately, because that and groceries were supposed to be his check this upcoming week.
