CHYANNE ARMSTRONG
My Story Of July 9
It was a Tuesday summer day when I was checking the oil in my car before leaving to go pickup up my boyfriend. My two girls playing in the yard with their toys while my mom Polly Armstrong was standing beside me to help hold up my cars hood while I checked my oil, when suddenly everything went black.
I opened my eyes to see my mother holding my face as she was crying and telling me how sorry she was this happened, she was in a panic screaming and shouting for help while trying her best not to leave my side. At first I was in shock not realizing what happened to me. I could not move from where i was. My body pressed up against my vehicles engine while the hood rested on top of me. I was in a panic, screaming and crying after realizing my legs where pinned between my own car and my neighbors car. My two kids Olivia and River ages 4 and 2 I saw crying behind the fence. My mother tried her best to keep them from coming out of the gate to see how I was injured. All I could do was yell for them to stay put because I did not want my kids to have the same awful images of their mother pinned between two cars as my own mother will now have for the rest of her life.
Several minutes passed before anyone came to help me get unstuck while we waited on the ambulance to get to my house. A few strangers gathered and helped get one of the cars moved and me moved onto the grass. My two kids made it out of the gate and came running to me with tears streaming down their face. I felt awful knowing that the image of me hurt like this could affect them in negative ways, and my poor mother who had to witness her child possibly losing her life because of someone else’s reckless driving.
I was told later that day in the hospital from my mom that a man and his girlfriend where arguing and he somehow lost control of the steering wheel causing him to smash into the back of my moms car then her car hit my car leaving me pinned between my car and my neighbors. The accident left me with two fractured knees, torn muscles, a bone piece popped out on my right knee cap, torn ACL on my right, nerve damage, and a few more things that I honestly cant remember because I was so drugged up from the pain. I originally was planning to sue the guy or his insurance to cover my medical expenses, bills, and for me and my mother to get new used cars. As of yesterday August 27, 2024 I found out that the man does not have insurance and my car insurance only covered if I hit someone so my lawyer dropped the case. That leads me here having to create a go fund me in hopes that good people can help me and my family get back on our feet again.
I spent two weeks in the hospital, two weeks away from my kids, a week having to learn how to walk with a walker when i am only 25. I cried quite a lot and was so angry after realizing how much this awful accident is affecting my mom, my kids, brother, sister, boyfriend and myself. I had to say goodbye to all the summer plans i had with my family and friends. Walking was very difficult for me. I was scared to get out of the hospital bed just to go to the bathroom. I was put on so much medication that i lost count. Nobody should have to put their life on hold because of something that was not their fault.
I have to rely on my sister who lives 45 minutes away for doctor appointments because my mom’s car and mine are no longer drivable. I have broken out in stress hives and swollen body parts that will not go away, adding to more medications for me to take. I’m getting behind on rent that is $1,150 a month. I stress about my water bill and light bill. My couch, bed, and phone bills that are over $500 a month all together, and lastly my credit card bill. and we all know how much stress it can be to possibly have a good credit score drop due to late payments. If that drops then I won’t ever be able to get a loan for buying a house or possibly a new car after all this.
Emotionally I’ve been better. I’m usually a very independent person but with the lack of my legs currently not working leads me to having to rely on help with just about everything a normal person does. Showering, getting food or a drink brought to me, walking, My bedroom is upstairs so I’m unable to pick out my own clothes etc. When I get upset about anything I usually use my legs for walking so that i can think and destress myself but now I don’t know how to contain my emotions when i get upset so it leads to me shaking and crying and now i have these itchy and swollen hives all over me every day. Im not able to carry my kids, bathe my kids, play outside with my kids, or inside. If my girls want food or something to drink I have to ask for help from someone who lives with me when it is supposed to be my responsibility. Both my girls just had birthdays but with my body having so much to heal from I’m exhausted or in pain so i couldn’t even celebrate their birthdays like i wanted. I’ve cried a number of times because i feel like an awful mother since i cannot do as much as i used too for my kids. School just started and im not even able to walk my oldest to her first year of kindergarten. Those are memories i will never get back.
What really hurts me is knowing that someone who affected my life so drastically is still walking around out there free as can be. I would be happy if I just got an apology from him knowing that he feels awful for what happened like any other decent human being would have done.
Anything from you generous people would be a great big help for not only myself but for my family as well. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for donating what you can. God Bless and I hope you have a wonderful day.
