On July 7th McKenna was taken to the emergency department for a severe headache and blurred vision. Initial evaluation revealed critically elevated blood pressure, prompting hospital admission. There were several days of improvement however on the morning of July 11th, McKenna woke up with total vision loss. She was then transferred to another facility for further evaluation. They found that there was intracranial pressure via lumbar puncture. To relieve the pressure, they placed a temporary drain and then had a permanent shunt line placed as well to continue draining of the fluid and keep the pressure at a normal level. As of July 15th, her vision has not improved. The Physicians are uncertain as of today if McKenna will regain her vision or how long she will have to be hospitalized.
McKenna and her family are going through an incredibly difficult time as they navigate through this all. While she receives ongoing medical care, her loved ones are facing emotional, physical and financial strain as this will be a long recovery process. Any support – whether through prayers, kind words, meals or donations – is deeply appreciated as they stand by her side during this uncertain journey.
