Support Cheryl Keene’s Family With Her Passing

Cheryl Keene (46) is a wife, a mother, and a godly woman. If you don't know her, she is tenacious and charismatic. Cheryl has always loved to care and connect with the humans around her, everywhere she goes; with that, she is also selfless. She certainly has personality and creativity, through her writings in poetry, paintings, cooking, and miniature creations. Above all, she is a dedicated wife and a mother to 2 men.

Cheryl has had a long battle with a condition called Gastroparesis (paralyzed stomach) over the last decade. The condition for her has been difficult to manage and overall had detrimental effects on her body. In 2023, Cheryl was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. The news was devastating for her and her family. Throughout 2024, Cheryl has dealt with the cancer arduously. At times it seemed like the treatment was getting her better, and at others, she was certainly at her worst. Cheryl, already weak from her pre-existing condition, has certainly struggled with everything that has come with also having cancer.

However, Cheryl's tenacity shined through. Despite all the turmoil, she continued to engage in her art, her dedication to the household... nothing would stop her from cooking dinner, doing the dishes, or doing the laundry, no matter how many times we'd tell her to rest. This is who Cheryl is, and she wasn't going to let anyone stop her.

The fact of the matter is this: her circumstance is no stranger to financial burden. Naturally, the bills have stacked up, and the expenses to ensure her care are exorbitant. To make it clear, Cheryl does not have a sustainable income. Her husband Josh has been her key caregiver at home, and while he has been able to support her physically, mentally, and financially, he also needed to take a significant amount of time away from work to do this. Her family has contributed to this in any way they can: her sister, sons, ex-husband, friends, and posty-moms. By the grace of God, she has been blessed with what people have been able to contribute, but unfortunately, it may not always be practically enough.

As of November 2024, Cheryl is now in critical condition. Cheryl was on track to start chemo, and the cancer has grown throughout all of her body. She is undoubtedly weaker than she's ever been, and she sadly no longer has the will to do the things she loves. Unfortunately, she has been deemed no longer a good candidate for chemo, and more recently has been placed on hospice. To be very clear, she does not have much time with us left. Cheryl, now too weak to get up, in pain, and incoherent, has been exhausted by this cancer and what is left of her. It is simply devastating. I ask you to keep her in your thoughts during this difficult moment. Her family is carrying the weight of this circumstance and is at her side offering comfort and cherishing the last moments they have. There is no easy way to describe how difficult this is for everyone. As of today, 11/28, Cheryl is still fighting hard.

I am humbly asking for your support, not even just monetarily, but I ask you to pray and keep my mother in your thoughts. This situation has been challenging for everyone involved, and your added support, intention, and mindfulness undoubtedly will go a long way to help however it can. You can't put a price on this kind of thing, and if you know me, I am already uncomfortable asking for money, but if you can help, it would certainly not be taken for granted. I haven't been able to fully dial in where exactly any monetary support would be contributed, but I would plan to disperse it to support her and her immediate family.

  • Food and Water
  • Rent
  • Bills + Medical Bills
  • Anything that helps her stay comfortable
  • Funeral costs
  • Loss of wages / bereavement
  • Toiletries

There is no good way to talk about this, and I am deeply grateful if you are able to help in any way. This is not something I ever thought I would be doing... I love my mom, and I hope she is able to find her peace with God soon. If you need to contact me directly, you can message me on Facebook.

Please share her story.

Thank you all - her son,
Angel Keene
