EDIT— Update on ramp: I spoke to the person who is in charge of Ambuccs. He informed me that I am not able to use the wood from anywhere else. I have to use his wood because it’s the wood that he has been using since he started building these ramps which was over 20 years ago he does not want to use any other type of wood or material. I will have to pay the price of the wood from RP lumber. I will not know the quote of the material until a week before he comes to build it for me. He has 3 ramps ahead of me. Unfortunately, it will not be as low as when I was getting discounted from my sister and her boyfriend. So right now I am scared and having high anxiety, trying to figure out how I can get the amount for the wood and materials. So due to this we are needing more funds. He did say he would try to get me some extras from the 3 ramps he has to build if they donate the material that is left over.
If there is someone who could build my ramp with the material and what I get, please contact me (Cheranda Rogers). Maybe that would be a different way to go. It’s just depends how much I would be charged to build the ramp.
Edit: All materials for the ramp have been quoted at a discounted rate of $1659.00 which does not include taxes. Goal amount has been lowered!
Help Cheranda Rebuild Her Independence After a Polymyositis Flare-Up
Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,
I’m reaching out on behalf of my sister, Cheranda, who has been fighting an incredibly challenging battle with polymyositis, a rare and debilitating autoimmune disease that attacks the muscles and core of her body. Her journey began in 2012 when what seemed like a severe case of the flu turned into months of hospital stays, testing, and ultimately a life-changing diagnosis. Polymyositis has left Cheranda fighting to regain her strength while juggling the challenges of being a single mother to her two boys.
Through sheer determination, Cheranda has managed her illness for years, remaining independent and providing for her family despite her limitations. However, this past December, her health took a turn for the worse when she experienced a flare-up that not only weakened her muscles but began affecting her respiratory system and ability to swallow—serious and life-threatening complications.
After being admitted to the hospital, Cheranda has undergone intensive treatments, including five days of IVIG infusions, two doses of Rituximab, and high-dose steroids to stop the attack on her body. While her levels have returned to normal, the damage caused by the flare-up has left her significantly weakened. She now requires a walker, a hospital bed at home, and months of therapy to regain her strength.
One of the most immediate challenges Cheranda faces is safely returning home. Her trailer has six steps, which she can no longer navigate in her current condition. Thankfully, Cornbelt AMBUCS, a local organization, has offered to build a wheelchair ramp to ensure her home is accessible. However, the materials for the ramp must be covered by the homeowner.
We are asking for your support to help Cheranda and her boys during this difficult time. Donations will go toward:
• The cost of materials for the wheelchair ramp.
• Medical expenses not covered by insurance.
• Ongoing therapy, including water therapy, to rebuild her strength.
• Support for daily living needs as she recovers.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in Cheranda’s life. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign with others would mean so much to us. Your kindness and generosity will provide her not only with the tools she needs to rebuild her independence but also with hope and encouragement during this challenging time.
Thank you for taking the time to read Cheranda’s story and for any support you can offer.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Brittany
